Why HOFMA came to be
When we bought property in Spain ourselves, we quickly experienced how differently the process works compared to Scandinavia. Documentation, local rules, banks, lawyers, and various actors make buying property more complex than many expect.
We missed someone who could explain things at eye level, create clarity, and help us make decisions on an informed basis. Not a seller with their own interests, but an advisor who started from our situation.
That's why we created HOFMA. With Danish understanding, Spanish local knowledge, and experience from having been on the other side of the table ourselves.

What sets us apart
HOFMA is built on a combination of Danish perspective and Spanish local knowledge. Niels is Danish, Angela is Spanish, and together we help clients navigate two cultures, two languages, and two ways of doing things.
We know the questions Scandinavian buyers typically ask, and we also understand how processes work locally. That makes communication simpler and decisions easier to follow.
Our role is not to push you toward a specific property or project. We help you gain clarity, understand your options, and make decisions on an informed basis.
That's why we work with a limited number of clients at a time. It allows us to stay close to the process and provide the personal guidance many miss when buying property abroad.

The people behind HOFMA
HOFMA was founded by Niels and Angela — two founders with complementary backgrounds and a shared starting point: buying property in Spain and learning firsthand what’s missing in the market.
Niels Henrik Hofma
Director & Co-founder
Danish. Trained journalist and founder of the digital marketing agency The Online Gurus.
Niels has lived in Spain for over 8 years, including 3 years in Southern Spain. He has broad experience in online marketing, data-driven communication, and AI-supported workflows.
Angela Maria Barragan Sanchez
Creative Director & Co-founder
Originally from Venezuela, now a Spanish national. Based in Spain for over 10 years, including 4 years on the Costa del Sol.
Angela is trained in digital graphic design and online marketing, with 3 years of experience as a real estate advisor and agent in Spain.
Wim Mertens

Sales Partner & External Collaborator
Belgian. Master at Law from KU Leuven (1991), with 26 years as a specialist lawyer in building and property law in Belgium.
Founder of Invest Ideal Home on the Costa del Sol. Based in Spain since 2017, Wim brings deep legal and commercial knowledge to the buying process — particularly for Belgian and Northern European clients.
